Kirby Puckett...

I was shocked and saddened to see that Kirby Pucket passed away yesterday at age 45 after suffering a stroke on Sunday. Growing up a Yankee fan, I can remember several trips down to the Bronx to watch a short, fat, bald, and at one time, surprisingly fast outfielder patrol Center Field in Yankee Stadium. At the time, the Yankees center fielder was Rickey Henderson, not a huge guy, but his game was muscle and speed, his demeanor casual and cool enough for you to question his heart. By contrast, Puckett looked like he succeeded on heart and enthusiasm, from the name that is fun to say to the waddly trot, he was fun to watch.
