Look Ma, No Dell
On June 1, AMR announced it's Top 25 Supply Chains for 2007. Here's the Top 10:1. Nokia
2. Apple
3. Proctor and Gamble
4. IBM
5. Toyota Motor
6. Wal-Mart Stores
7. Anheuser-Bush
8. Tesco
9. Best Buy
10. Samsung Electronics
I must admit scouring the list down through the Top 10 past Pepsi-co at 15 and HP at 21 through to AstraZeneca at 25 and having my jaw drop at the glaring absence of a company whose name and Supply Chain go hand-in-hand: Dell.
In the past these 2 had been nearly synonymous, #1 in the 2004 rankings, #1 in 2005, NOWHERE in 2007. Did Dell retire as Oprah retired from the Emmy competition for best talk show?
